What is Utah Boys State?
The purpose of The American Legion Utah Boys State Program is to introduce boys to the functional aspects of citizenship and social responsibility.
Who created Boys State?
The program was the idea of two Illinois Legionnaires, Hayes Kennedy and Harold Card, who organized the first Boys State at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
Where is California Boys State held?
The American Legion California Boys State Program has been held at California State University, Sacramento since 1972. Delegates and Staff are housed in the campus Residence Halls and meals served in The Servery.
How many people go to California Boys State?
Every year during the months of February and March, Legion Posts interview hundreds of junior high school students from San Diego County and select approximately 55 students to attend California Boys State. This year, California Boys State will host approximately 900 boys representing all California counties.
